Without an extensive treatment your teeth would shift back into the original position. To prevent this from happing we use a so called Retainer, which fits closely to the teeth.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Orthodontic retainers can also be used to close a space between teeth.<\/em><\/strong> By the end of an extensive teeth movement the teeth must be stabilized with a \u201eSix-point-Retainer\u201c.[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;395&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;396&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>There are two types of retainer after braces: Fixed and removable.<\/em><\/strong> Fixed Retainers consist of a thin wire, which is permanently bonded behind the front teeth. They are very unobtrusive and you\u2019ll quickly forget they\u2019re there.<\/p>\n<p>To help avoid orthodontic relapse we provide our patients with retainers, which hold the teeth in their new position.
